Why opt for custom packaging
A typical box leaves spare space around the product, enabling it to rattle during transit until somebody fills the gap with foam or paper to prevent it from moving.
Conventional packaging with a sticker on the side is the easiest approach, but it caters to no specific customer.
Custom Pack Studio creates tailored packaging particularly for your product, ensuring the box, print and finish uphold your brand instead of overshadowing it.
We create custom boxes, mailer boxes, gift packaging and printed accessories for businesses throughout Splott and the valleys beyond. Orders can be as small as one sample or as large as a pallet delivered directly to your warehouse door!
You can order any quantity of what we make, so stock and storage costs remain unnecessary until you have established that a product sells.
Provide your packaging requirements, and we’ll adapt the recommendation to suit the product itself.
What custom packaging involves
Custom packaging forms the box around your product from the outset, with its dimensions and print tailored to what you are packing.
Select the measurements, enabling a custom-sized box to hold the product firmly without unnecessary movement created by a standard size.
Even the structure, board weight, print and finish are custom designed to suit what is being packed and how it travels!
Printing your logo on a stock box produces personalised packaging, needing less work than a completely customisable design.
With tailored packaging, every panel, fold and finish can be altered, even for just one unit, enabling you to create custom packaging that fits exactly.
Wrapping solutions we develop for Splott businesses
We create a complete range of packaging boxes, each manufactured to bespoke sizes and printed in full colour using your artwork.
Choosing the right box style and packaging depends on what you sell and how it is handled, while our packaging experts will guide you through the available options.
Shop cartons and labelled packaging
Reverse tuck end cartons are a common retail packaging option, suitable for lighter products such as cosmetics and supplements, with closure flaps that fold into both the top and bottom.
Crash lock boxes are a kind of lock box, offering a stronger cardboard design with a base that snaps flat when opened, preventing heavier products from pushing the bottom out.
Shipping and online retail cartons
A custom mailer box safeguards your product throughout the courier network, while making delivery into an extension of the brand experience and boosting visibility by printing on both its interior and exterior, not solely its outer face.
Gusseted variants of these custom printed boxes offer extra depth, giving bulkier items space to sit securely without moving.
Present boxes, solid cases and gable packages
Rigid boxes, gift boxes with magnetic closures and other branded boxes give presents a refined presentation customers anticipate, without them needing to wrap anything themselves.
Gable boxes with folding carry handles are well suited to food presents and hampers.
For high-end ranges, we occasionally specify SBS board, or solid bleached sulphate, a bright, food safe paperboard, instead of standard carton stock, while finishes such as foil and soft touch lamination enhance the overall effect.
Craft backing for your Splott enterprise
Each order includes packaging design assistance, irrespective of how far your artwork has progressed.
Have a logo and brand guidelines? Our design experts produce print ready files, checking that colours stay accurate on board because packaging demands higher resolution than a website image.
You don’t need design experience to develop packaging that fits your brand. Our team can start with only just a logo. Together, they determine the structure and create expertly designed, print ready artwork, detailing each technical decision as the project develops.
Our online tool allows you to personalise a box and preview its look on screen prior to printing, while Pantone colour matching maintains consistency each time you place a repeat order.
When you need packaging produced in both English and Welsh, our team treats it as a standard artwork requirement, in the same way as any other language or colour change.
Tailored packaging for the Splott’s enterprises
Food and beverages
Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef both hold Protected Geographical Indication status, and all food packaging that comes into contact with meat or dairy must comply with food contact standards, regardless of which side of the border it is made on.
We hold BRC Global Packaging certification at High Hygiene level, which means our food packaging is manufactured in controlled, traceable conditions that retailers review prior to listing products.

Refreshments and spirit-making
Over the past two decades, Wales has developed a genuine drinks scene, spanning Brecon Beacons distilleries and newer gin and whisky producers throughout the north.
Bottle presentation boxes must withstand transit while retaining their shelf appeal, with finishes such as foil stamping and embossing contributing much of the impact for a limited release or seasonal gift set.
Personal care items and cosmetics
Cosmetic and skincare brands need cartons that protect delicate glass and compacts whilst looking good on the shelf.
We create cosmetics packaging featuring soft touch lamination, foil and embossing, while rigid boxes make a premium range feel worthy of its higher price.

E-commerce and subscription labels
Packaging designed for retail display matters when a product sits in a shop or marketplace fulfilment centre, yet subscription brands face an completely different challenge.
Because the same customer opens an nearly identical box each month, keeping a uniform finish is just as important as the initial design.
Accurately sized e commerce packaging holds products securely during transit, helping prevent damage, reduce claims and limit returns.
A fitted insert or printed tissue keeps the product secure during transit, while the print stays in view once the box is opened.
For a subscription-based brand that places repeat orders monthly, maintaining consistent box dimensions maintains predictable pallet capacity and warehouse racking, becoming progressively important as volumes surpass several hundred units.
Dispatching to Splott from our Scottish atelier
Everything is manufactured at our Irvine facility, with UK delivery to businesses in Splott included as standard.
After your proof is accepted, the majority of orders are delivered to a Splott address within two to three weeks, corresponding to the delivery timeframe for our packaging across the UK.
Custom Pack Studio belongs to KennedySmith (Press) Ltd, a packaging manufacturer producing print and packaging since 1997, meaning an long-standing team makes the boxes with its own presses.
You review a proof and, when required by the format, a physical sample ahead of full production starts, while reorders retain the same artwork, meaning that scaling up never requires the process to begin again.
Working with one box company for packaging throughout your whole product line makes everything straightforward.
You receive one invoice and liaise with one contact, avoiding multiple suppliers quoting different prices for different weeks.

Eco-friendly packaging as expected
Each box we produce is fully recyclable, thanks to the board it is made from.
Our board and paper begin with FSC and PEFC certified sources, while each sheet is traced through an audited supply chain to responsibly managed forests.
We are reducing single use plastic and EPS foam void fill throughout our processes, as neither material is easy to recycle and both create disposal difficulties after a parcel has been opened.
When the design allows, biodegradable or paper-based protection replaces them instead.
Not any minimum buy for Splott firms
Throughout the industry, custom packaging often demands minimum orders of 500 or 1,000 units, meaning you must fund stock and storage before discovering whether your product will sell.
We do not have a minimum order requirement.
Small firms can order one sample, a restricted trial run, or a full production batch after proving demand, with per unit pricing adjusted for each order quantity throughout the range.
Prior to production starts, you will always receive a written quotation. The high quality materials and packaging products provided for a run of fifty are identical to those supplied for a run of ten thousand.
Before committing to a greater quantity, obtain a printed sample and assess the print, colour and how it sits in your hand.
